June 2025 Modular Synthesis for Live performance and composition

This course dives into the musical expression with modular synthesizers as music instruments in your live or production setup, from various perspectives: through the auditive lens of electronic music to sound art practices. This course provides a hands-on introduction and overview of modular synthesis for live performance and sound design, from the basics to individual artistic approaches.

October 23rd – November 18th, 2023

These two intensive course units on AI music (Introduction to Terminal Usage and Python Programming & Python and Machine Learning for Audio) will allow you to start from the very basics of programming work your way up to receiving a hands-on training in creating sound through machine learning algorithms, Markov chains, Music Information Retrieval and training other types of machine learning routines on datasets. The course will feature an AI club night with Hexorcismos and Ktonal.

In collaboration with Errant Sound Project Space, this course provides a hands-on and research-based approach to performance and site-specific practices in sound, in which participant’s artistic investigations are focused on their own specialisations and particular interests. The course culminates in a project week wherein participant’s work is featured for the public at a two-day event at Acud and an exhibition at Errant Sound Project Space.

15. November 2022 – 29. January 2023

In this hands-on course the participants learn fundamental theory and approaches to modular synthesis while also learning the basics of electronics for building circuitry and synth modules. New ways integrating diverse configurations of gear including modular synths will be introduced. Assignments help the participants learn strategies for better achieving their artistic goals and structuring work. In the last two weeks of the course, approaches to composition, improvisation and performance with modular synthesis..

Diploma Course
