Build Your Own DIY Synthesizer — with Corazón de Robota

Corazón de Robota (Constanza Piña Pardo) is a Chilean sound artist, instrument builder and performer whose practice lives at the intersection of DIY electronics, circuit design and experimental sound. She builds her own instruments from scratch — and over three days, she’ll show you how to build yours.
This is not a workshop about using synthesizers. It’s a workshop about building one — soldering iron in hand, circuit by circuit, until the instrument you walk out with is entirely your own.

Day 1 — Circuits & Sound

Electronics Fundamentals & Oscillators

Understanding sound as an electrical signal — and how the simplest circuits generate it.

Introduction to DIY electronics: components, tools and safe soldering practice
Reading a circuit diagram (schematic)
Basic oscillator circuits — how a simple loop becomes a tone
Resistors, capacitors and transistors as sound-shaping tools
Building and testing your first sound-generating circuit

Day 2 — Building the Instrument

Assembly, Modulation & Control

A week for DJs — technique, selection, and set-building, taught by artists who play the rooms you want to play. Nightly sets on the lawn.

A full week of production, sound design, and studio time with faculty who make records for a living. Every evening ends in a live performance.

Nadia Struiwigh — Dutch composer, electronic music producer, live performer, sound designer and certified sound therapist based in Berlin — guides you across three connected days: first shaping sound with creative tools, then composing with feeling and telling a story, and finally building a clear and sustainable identity as an artist.

This is not about one “correct” way to make music. It’s about learning the language of sound, using it with intention, finishing ideas, recognising your own artistic voice and building a world around the work.

Day 1 — Sound

Sound Design & Creative Tools

Learning the language of sound — understanding what your tools can do, how sound behaves, and how to make technical choices that actually serve expression.
